Information You Submit
Names, phone numbers, and addresses entered into the search boxes are sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Costa Mesa Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those queries on its own servers. If you send a message, the information visible in that message is used to answer it.
Routine Technical Logs
The hosting service may record an IP address, browser details, requested pages, and timestamps. Those logs help maintain the service and show traffic patterns in aggregate. Basic analytics or advertising measurement may use cookies or similar tools when enabled by the hosting and advertising arrangements.
How Information Is Used
Information is used to operate the reference, diagnose faults, measure broad traffic, and improve the pages. Visitor lists are not sold, and this service does not create individual user profiles from ordinary browsing.
External Portals and Links
Pages link to county and state record systems, libraries, archives, and outside search tools. Once a link is followed, the destination’s privacy policy controls the submitted information. Sponsored search results are provided by a third party and are subject to that provider’s practices.
Possible Recipients
Hosting and service vendors may process ordinary server logs to keep the pages available. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the technical information described above. Information is disclosed when a valid legal process requires it, and otherwise is not shared as a visitor list.
Security and Retention
The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the operational needs described above. There are no user accounts, so this service does not hold a password or personal profile for a visitor.
Visitors Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If a minor has sent information, contact the operator so the material can be located and removed.
Your California Privacy Choices
California’s Consumer Privacy Act, Civil Code §1798.100 et seq., provides rights that can include access, correction, deletion, opt-out of sale or sharing, limits on sensitive-data use, and nondiscrimination, subject to its exceptions. Because this service keeps very little visitor information, a request normally involves checking the contact mailbox and relevant server logs. Use the Contact page to ask. Government records held by California, Orange County, or Costa Mesa offices are outside this service’s control. Requests for those records go to the custodian under the California Public Records Act, Government Code §§7920.000–7931.000.
